Help if you can please

Im wanting to know how using photoshop I can put a slight soft glow to my shots, something to just take the hard edges away, I guess its kind of hard for me to explain what Im mean ive seen many shots that have this done tho.

If anyone knows what Im talking about and how to do it please if you could let me know that would be great an a wonderful help thanks.
